About the Competition

The 2026 Copa Sudamericana is the second most important club competition in South America, organized by CONMEBOL. It works as the South American equivalent of the UEFA Europa League.

The competition brings together 32 clubs split into 8 groups of 4 teams. The top two from each group advance to the round of 16, where they join the third-placed teams from the Libertadores group stage.

The knockout stage is played over two legs, with the final as a single match at a neutral venue defined by CONMEBOL.

The Sudamericana champion earns a spot in the following year Libertadores and in the Recopa Sudamericana, where it faces the Libertadores champion.
